About Untamed Photography Workshops & Tours

About the Workshops & Tours

Untamed Photography operates in alliance with a variety of important research and conservation initiatives around the world to provide once-in-a-lifetime experiences to photography enthusiasts, who wish to capture wildlife in some of the most nature-abundant places under the sun, with the guidance and support of wildlife photographers and experienced nature professionals.

UP’s workshops & tours utilise ecotourist lodges and research centres which have been specially selected for their secluded, but comfortable and accessible positions in the wild. With an emphasis on wildlife-rich locations which are frequented by researchers and biologists, Untamed Photography participants can expect to enjoy a variety of mammals, birds, snakes, frogs and insects during each workshop tour. Having our partner researchers and biologists to hand means that our participants will often get exclusive close-up -and learning- opportunities with a variety of animals.

There will be an enjoyable number of walks and hikes around the trail systems at our UP workshop sites. Workshop activities will be varied depending on the location, although mostly include hours on lakes and rivers, at wildlife hotspots such as clay-licks or waterholes, and at the most spectacular viewpoints and panoramas in the vicinity.

With no more than 10 participants, each tour offers every member of the group the chance to broaden and strengthen his or her photography skills with individualised support, ultimately creating a portfolio of exciting wildlife imagery. Furthermore, the participant may also allow local charitable organisations to use a selection of his or her pictures for invaluable scientific photo-guides that will assist future biologists and local students with species identification.

All workshop tours include a set of optional lectures on; photography fundamentals, wildlife photography tips (with an emphasis on that workshop’s unique environment) and advanced digital editing techniques as well as continual support from the workshop leaders throughout the participant’s time with Untamed Photography.
